Meet Dr. Mauro Correa, an endodontist who loves serving the Augusta community
In this video, Dr. Mauro Correa explains how he became a dentist and an endodontist after a career in the military and how he met Dr. Ngoh and started at Augusta Endodontic Center. He loves serving the community and volunteers his time and skills for the betterment of residents.

I enlisted in the military as a dental technician. I basically got hold of a few good mentors, one of them being an endodontist who really made me realize that I was smart enough to actually pursue a field as a dentist. So I started going to undergrad, started taking classes while I was full-time military. I took these classes at nights and on weekends and got my bachelor’s, applied to dental school, and kept pursuing endodontics until I finally got in. In other fields, it takes a while for you to actually see the end result. In endodontics, you can take an X-ray after you’re done and you can instantly see what you’ve done. And that to me was something that I really enjoyed in my field. And then, you know of course that patients feel better right away. And then I actually got to teach a little bit too. So right after my residency in endodontics, I was teaching for an advanced education general dentistry program, a one-year program.

I knew of Dr. Ngoh through mutual friends and he knew of me and it was kind of like we did this blind date thing where we showed up and we started talking and we hit it off, and here we are. We really see eye to eye on philosophically and with everything that we do.

My family and I, my wife, Annette, and my three kids, David, Alana, and Ette, we like to go to the lake, we like to go to the beach, anything that paddle. We like paddle-boarding, kayaking, or just getting some sun, laying down. That’s what we like doing really. I mean, we think of all of our vacation spots and it always ends up, the highlights are always a lake or a beach somewhere. So I would say that’s what we really enjoy doing.

I’m pretty pumped up about being back in Augusta. The community is, I still feel as though it’s like a big town, small city. Still get to have that community feel. So that’s one of those things that my wife and I are really looking forward to, really want to help and volunteer with. Help my profession with my specialty. And so the hope is that I can help out the university here to really, for one to stay up to date as much as I can. And at the same time, also kind of volunteer and give back.
